PENRITE VINTAGE OILS

Veteran Pre 1920

For Veteran (1885 - 1904), Edwardian Vehicles (1905 - 1919), Motorcycles, Stationary & Agricultural Engines.

Heritage oils are available in two different viscosities.

Since standards were not available in those days, we have named them LTM (Light to Medium) and MTH (Medium to Heavy).

HERITAGE LTM SAE 30 (Mineral)

Viscosity: SAE 30

Base Oil:
•Mineral

Fuel Types •Petrol
•Kerosine (Paraffin)
•Diesel

Descripton

Heritage LTM is a premium mineral, Non-Detergent, monograde engine oils manufactured from high quality mineral base oils and containing anti-wear, anti-rust and tackiness additives. They have been specifically designed for use in vehicles built prior to 1920.

Additional Information

Heritage LTM is designed for use in many vehicles of pre WWI design which were fitted with rather primitive oiling systems such as drip feed lubricator systems, wick feed, and hand operated pumps. These require an engine oil that will readily flow when cold yet provide the necessary protection when hot.

Heritage LTM typical oil change intervals should not exceed 500 miles / 800 km or yearly, whichever comes first.

Heritage LTM is a SAE 30 light to medium viscosity engine oil designed to meet the requirements of small engine veteran, Edwardian cars of 1, 2 and 4 cylinders, and motorcycles up to 500cc prior to 1920.

Heritage LTM is recommended for early forms of smaller capacity (less than 6hp) stationary engines and other early agricultural equipment fuelled by either petrol, kerosene (paraffin) or diesel.

Customer Benefits
• Contains modern additives to provide corrosion protection (when vehicle not in use)
• Improved water resistance (results of primitive water pump design leaking water into sump)
• Tacky additive provides increased storage protection

Key Specifications:
•SAE 30

HERITAGE MTH SAE 50 (Mineral)

Viscosity: SAE 50

Base Oil:
•Mineral

Fuel Types •Petrol
•Kerosine (Paraffin)
•Diesel

Descripton

Heritage MTH is a premium mineral, Non-Detergent, monograde engine oils manufactured from high quality mineral base oils and containing anti-wear, anti-rust and tackiness additives. They have been specifically designed for use in vehicles built prior to 1920.

Additional Information

Heritage MTH is designed for use in many vehicles of pre WWI design which were fitted with rather primitive oiling systems such as drip feed lubricator systems, wick feed, and hand operated pumps. These require an engine oil that will readily flow when cold yet provide the necessary protection when hot.

Heritage MTH typical oil change intervals should not exceed 500 miles / 800 km or yearly, whichever comes first.

Heritage MTH is a SAE 50 medium to heavy viscosity engine oil designed to meet the requirements of medium to large veteran, Edwardian cars of 4, 6 and 8 cylinders, and motorcycles of 500cc capacity or over built prior to 1920.

Heritage MTH is designed for use in large capacity engined vehicles fitted with trough or early forms of pressure fed systems, requiring a heavier grade of oil than Heritage LTM. Also recommended for early forms of larger capacity (over 6hp) stationary engines which may be subjected to constant unloaded running, or where a thinner grade oil would not provide the necessary protection at high ambient temperatures. May also be used in other forms of early agricultural equipment fuelled by petrol, kerosene (paraffin) or diesel.

Customer Benefits
• Contains modern additives to provide corrosion protection (when vehicle not in use)
• Improved water resistance (results of primitive water pump design leaking water into sump)
• Tacky additive provides increased storage protection

Description

SHELSLEY LIGHT is a premium mineral, 20W-60, high zinc, very low detergent engine oil designed specifically for petrol, kerosene and diesel fuelled vintage, pre-war and post war vehicles manufactured to 1950. It features a double layer of engine wear protection with high zinc and increased operating temperature viscosity over monograde oils.

Additional Information:

SHELSLEY LIGHT is suitable for passenger cars, motorcycles, 4WD's, light & heavy duty commercial vehicles (trucks, buses & heavy equipment), tractors & industrial machines that originally specified a SAE 30 monograde grade engine oil fitted with/ without an engine oil filter. Those vehicles that require a higher detergency should use Penrite Classic Light Engine Oil.

SHELSLEY LIGHT is a SAE 20W-60 engine oil for vehicles that specified SAE 30 grade engine oils. It is suitable for small capacity vintage engines relying totally on splash lubrication. Also suitable for small capacity sleeve valve engined cars such as Minerva, Mors, Knight and Daimler. Can be used for vehicles operating where cooler ambient temperatures will be experienced.

SHELSLEY LIGHT is ideal for use in early vintage (pre 1950) motorcycles, incorporating sight glasses, pilgrim oil pumps and total loss lubrication systems. It is suitable for use in motor cycles fitted with a wet clutch

SHELSLEY LIGHT contains a special additive pack that suits vintage vehicles of the era and is compatible with grades that were originally specified. This oil exceeds the specification requirements of the original oils required during this period hence offering a greater level of engine protection compared to original oils.

SHELSLEY LIGHT features a standard multigrade cold temperature SAE viscosity grade with an increased operating temperature range that provides and added layer of protection for the engine especially under increased load and temperature conditions. Multigrade oils provide better start up protection and better protection at operating temperature than monograde oils and they do not need to be changed in winter and summer as they used to do.

SHELSLEY LIGHT is an API SC/CC grade oil that features very low detergent levels and contains HIGH ZINC levels for added anti-wear protection for older engines.

SHELSLEY LIGHT contains a "Tacky Additive" so that when vehicles are laid up, the engine oil doesn't run off the internal surfaces. This combined with an increased level of rust inhibitor, provides protection against corrosion and deterioration when the engine is not used or in storage.

Product Benefits
•Formulated to give much improved low temperature pumpability
•Improves operating temperature wear protection
•Extends bearing and gear life by minimising wear and shock loads
•Minimises sludge build up, bearing corrosion and piston ring sticking
•Formulated specifically for Pre-1950's vehicles
•Optimised zinc levels for wear protection
